Chengdu's Introduction International Exchanges between Chengdu and Its Friends
2016, the third 2016 G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting will be held July 23-24 in Chengdu.
It will be the highest-level and most influential international conference to be convened in the city.
As an important city linking the “Road and Belt Initiative” (the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”) and the Yangtze River Economic Zone, and a major city in western China, Chengdu has forged friendly ties with the G20 member countries for a long time.
The US, Germany, France, Australia and South Korea have set up their consulates general in Chengdu, which has established a sister-city relationship with many well-known cities in the G20 members.
Many international celebrities, including Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, former British prime ministers David Cameron and Tony Blair, and the US first lady Michelle Obama, paid visits to the city one after another.
The opening of the consulates general of the G20 members in Chengdu from the 1980s to the 21st century has facilitated the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the city and the countries.
