The geographic location and the implementation of the strategies of "One Belt, One Road" and "Yangtze River Economic Belt" have given Chengdu more advantages in the new century to stand at the forefront for international cooperation and exchange.

By the end of August,Chengdu has opened 89 international flight routes to 74 cities, with a air traffic network covering North America, Europe, the Middle East, Oceanica and Asia, topping central and western China in terms of international flights.

The city has also made a great leap in improving its road and rail transportation in recent years and is welcoming the era of an expansive network of high-speed rail transportation that will realize the easy accssibitiy of the city to most of the major cities in China.

Chengdu is gaining ground as an important rail link between Asia and Europe since the operation of the Chengdu-Europe Freight Train in 2013. Transporting commodities on the Chengdu-Europe line is 80 per cent cheaper than using air freight, while the 10-day transportation time is 3 times faster than shipping. Chengdu is expected to put in large investment to build China's largest international rail port.
